Grand Opening of New Frijoles Skills Park Features at La Tierra Trails

Fresh off being recognized as one of the nation’s top 28 Trail Towns for mountain biking, the City of Santa Fe is celebrating another major investment in its outdoor recreation infrastructure with the grand opening of new features at the Frijoles Skills Park within the La Tierra Trail System.

The project includes six new steel-framed, wood-decked ramps that replace aging dirt jump features at the popular skills area, known to local riders as the “Trash Pit.” The upgraded features provide a safer, more durable riding experience while expanding opportunities for riders of all skill levels to develop and practice their mountain biking skills.

The improvements reflect the City’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality outdoor recreation amenities and enhancing Santa Fe’s trail network.

The project was made possible through a $90,000 grant awarded to the Santa Fe Fat Tire Society by the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division’s Trails+ Grant Program. Design and installation of the new features were completed by Rocket Ramps, one of New Mexico’s leading trail-building organizations.

The Santa Fe Fat Tire Society, City of Santa Fe Parks and Recreation Department, New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division, and Rocket Ramps invite community members to celebrate the completion of the project and experience the new facilities firsthand.
