Winsor Bridge Work

Two bridges are finished and the approaches for a third over 1/2 done. September 23rd we’ll make another big push to get materials to the sites, work on finishing bridge 3 and getting as far as possible on bridges 4 & 5. The bridge sites are below the Chamisa and Jawbone Trail intersections the Winsor. Forest Stewards Guild is providing a 4 person Conservation Corp work crew Wed-Fri Sept 20-22 to help get materials to the site. Hopefully, they’ll get most/all the joists to the bridge sites. Over the weekend, we’ll move decking materials and 4×4 curbs to the bridge sites and then work on bridge construction for the rest of the work day. Bridges Sat Oct 7th.! Let’s make it happen!!!
Three bridges are finished and most of the materials are on site for the last two. We’ll meet at Ft Marcy at 8:15 to carpool and set up a shuttle so we can avoid the long hike back up to Borrego at the end of the day. We’ve got another wheelbarrow of materials to take down, along with 4×4 curbing pieces. Once on site we’ll work on getting the abutments into place so we can put on the decking while still working on the approaches. Breakfast burritos will be provided to get you going. Sign up here:

Club Ride, Wednesday 11/8: La Tierra Trails – La Cuchara Trailhead

For our first Night Ride of the year, we will take an easy stroll through La Tierra to get reacquainted with riding in the dark. Be prepared for cool weather after dark. At least one light is required, but one for the bars and one for the helmet makes it a lot easier to take the corners.


If you’ve never ridden at night before and want to try, reach out and we may be able to scare up a couple lights.

Club Ride, Wednesday 11/15: Dale Ball Trails – Sierra del Norte Trailhead

This week we’ll head back up to the Dale Ball Trails. Be prepared for cool weather after dark. At least one light is required, but one for the bars and one for the helmet makes it a lot easier to take the corners.


If you’ve never ridden at night before and want to try, reach out and we may be able to scare up a couple lights.



Meet at the Sierra del Norte Trailhead at 5:30pm, wheels in the dirt by 5:45.
Our weekly, no drop, co-ed club ride is open to everyone. There will always be a group with a no drop in place so nobody gets lost or left behind at any of the major intersections. Locations vary. Always check back a day or two ahead of the ride date to confirm time and place.

Club Ride, Wednesday 11/29: La Tierra Trails – La Cuchara Trailhead

We’re heading back to La Tierra this week, trail conditions permitting. With the moisture we had over the weekend, we’ll keep an eye on the mud, and make a call the day of the ride to make sure we don’t do any damage to the trails.

If you’ve never ridden at night before and want to try, reach out and we may be able to scare up some lights to borrow.

Meet at the La Cuchara Trailhead at 5:30pm, wheels in the dirt by 5:45.

With the winter weather upon us, please keep in mind the trail conditions before heading out:

Do not ride muddy trails. Melting snow often leads to very muddy trails. Riding on trails in this condition can cause substantial trail damage and potential erosion. Do NOT ride on muddy trails. If you’re leaving tracks, turn back and don’t ride around puddles and widen the trail. If possible, ride early in the day when the ground is still frozen.
