How’s Our Forest?
Our February Guest Presenters are Eytan Krasilovsky & Collin Haffey. Eytan is the Southwest Director at the Forest Stewards Guild. Collin is the Conservation Coordinator with The Nature Conservancy, in New Mexico. Both of our speakers are Mt. Bikers, and they’ll give us a Mt. Biker’s view of the current and near-future status of the Santa Fe National Forest, as seen through their eyes.

The Forest Stewards Guild programs are all focused on a vision of professional forest management that is, “ecologically, economically, and socially responsible.” The Southwest program, under Eytan, is currently working on landscape-scale restoration, youth education and training, wildland firefighter training, and effectiveness monitoring. Eytan is involved in several local collaborative efforts to improve forest management and serves on a wildland-urban interface risk reduction grant review panel.

Part of Collin’s focus, as the Conservation Coordinator with The Nature Conservancy, is supporting the Rio Grande Water Fund. He also has a background in climate-related forest disturbance processes, and is currently co-organizing a large collaborative climate change adaption
project in the Jemez Mountains.
