What: Volunteer Trail Building Event at the Galisteo Basin Preserve
When: Rescheduled! Sat., Sept. 21 from 8:30 am - 1 pm
Where: Galisteo Basin Preserve, Cottonwood Trailhead
Info: Volunteers will be helping put the finishing touches on two new hiking/mountain biking trails totally 3.74 miles. Volunteers will meet at the Cottonwood Trailhead. Volunteers should bring work gloves, hat, water, sunscreen and wear closed toe, heavy work boots. Snacks will be provided.
Co-sponsored by the Galisteo Basin Preserve, REI, the Santa Fe Fat Tire Society, and the Trails Alliance of Santa Fe.
The Galisteo Basin Preserve is accessible from U.S. Highway 285 south of Eldorado. The Preserve entry is located approximately 6.5 miles south of the I-25/US 285 intersection. Please be mindful that it takes 20-25 minutes to drive to the Preserve entrance from Santa Fe.
Directions to the Cottonwood Trailhead are as follows: Take Astral Valley Road to the intersection with Thornton Ranch Road. Take a left on Thornton Ranch Road and drive for approximately 2.25 miles. The route will be marked with red flags. The Cottonwood Trailhead will be on your right. Since parking is limited, volunteers are asked to car pool to the trail building events.
