The City of Santa Fe is in the process of formalizing a master plan for the La Tierra Trails. Earlier this year, an existing conditions analysis documented information on the land and gathered input from its trail users (see http://www.santafenm.gov/index.aspx?NID=1829 for more information and map downloads). Now, the planning team is moving forward to develop a draft master plan for the area.
The La Tierra Trails Draft Master Plan will identify the trail types, trail network, trailhead locations, and use areas for recreational trail users in the La Tierra property. In a series of 5 separate focus group meetings with trail users (hikers/dog-walkers/trail-runners, equestrians, mountain bikers, BMX/dirt jumpers, ATV/MX riders), the planning team is asking for continued input in order to appropriately plan and design for each users' needs for the trails area. Information collected from these meetings will be synthesized in a draft master plan and presented in a public forum for public review.
Mountain bikers and other interested individuals are invited to give input on a draft trails plan that will propose trailhead / trail improvements and logical trail loops within the city-owned La Tierra Trails property. The planning team asks you to attend an informal meeting and discuss the plan in more detail. Please forward this invitation to individuals you know who may be able to contribute to this discussion.
